Where is Crichton Church?

The Crichton Church and Easterbrook Hall sit within the beautiful grounds of the Crichton Estate in the heart of Dumfries in Southwest Scotland. Dumfries town centre is only a five-minute drive away, and the closest cities to the venue are Carlisle and Glasgow, forty minutes and one and a half hours away, respectively.

The closest airports to the venue are Glasgow and Newcastle. The closest rail connections are Dumfries and Lockerbie. With the venue being so close to the town, getting taxis for transport is straightforward if you don't have a car.

Why choose Crichton Church for your wedding ceremony?

The Crichton Estate sits within 85 acres of beautiful parkland and manicured gardens.

The main focal point of the Estate is the beautiful sandstone cathedral Crichton Memorial Church, designed by Edinburgh architect Sydney Mitchell, 1890-97. It's a big draw for couples who want to get married in a beautiful Church but also have the reception venue a two-minute walk away at Easterbrook Hall.

How many guests can it hold?

The Church can host up to 200 guests during the day. Depending on which of the rooms inside the Hall you choose, you can fit anywhere from 50-300 people inside.

The Church

The Church is so magnificent. One of the best features of the Church is that it is non-denomination which means you don't just have to have a Church service inside. You can have a registrar or humanist ceremony here too.

The Estate has also started offering whole wedding days inside the Church, from the ceremony to the evening reception, making it one of the most unique wedding venues in Dumfries & Galloway.

Easterbrook Hall

The leading wedding reception venue is a few minutes' walk from the Church. As mentioned, it can hold anywhere from 50 guests in the smaller rooms to well over 300 inside the beautiful main event hall. The event hall has a massive stage, too, perfect for a large band.

Accommodation at the Crichton Estate.

Accommodation at the Crichton couldn't be more straightforward. Within the grounds is a massive holiday inn only a few minutes from the Hall and the Church with 71 rooms. A perfect number of rooms to hold even the largest number of guests you have.

And on the outskirts of Dumfries, there are many Airbnb, hotels, a premiere inn and travel lodge too.

Best timing for your wedding.

The best time for a wedding at Crichton Church and Easterbrook Hall depends on individual preferences and priorities.

The venue also looks fantastic all year round. My favourite months are late spring and early summer when all the flowers are out in full bloom.

You can usually see a sunset here no matter what time of the year your wedding is.

Unique Locations for your couple's photos.

My favourite part of weddings is the couple's photos after the ceremony. Knowing the best places to go allows us to spend your time wisely and return you to your guests as quickly as possible. !

The grounds of the Estate make for some of the best photo opportunities. The venue has fantastic grounds, from the pristine parkland to the incredible gardens at the bottom of the hill.

A beautiful avenue of trees at the top of the garden creates some of the most magical photos all year round. If you want to venture further away from the venue, there is the incredible Caerlaverock Castle and the stunning coastal estuary at Glencaple.

Why should you consider booking Crichton Church & Easterbrook Hall for your wedding?
